If the rumors are to be believed, Apple has a mid-March event planned where it will debut a variety of new products, including a 4-inch iPhone. But one analyst doesn’t think that’s a wise decision.

According to an internal investor memo obtained by Apple Insider, Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster doesn’t think Apple’s rumored plans to announce the 4-inch “iPhone 5se” at an event in March make sense. Munster believes that announcing two iPhones, separately, would detract from the releases of other products. Moreover, he also believes the iPhone 5se, which will already be running older technology, will look even more outdated when it comes to the launch of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus later this year.

So, what’s Apple to do? According to the analyst, Apple will instead keep the March event focused on a new Apple Watch, which he believes could be an “S” variant, with a similar design to the original Watch but featuring updated specs, including a better battery under the hood. The event’s focus on the new Watch will also give Apple time to introduce new bands as well.

Munster also believes Apple will showcase a brand new iPad Air model, the oft-rumored “iPad Air 3.” He believes it could feature a redesigned frame, bring Force Touch to the iPad lineup, and boast better internal specifications. He also believes it’s possible that Apple will include a Smart Connector on the new tablet, but doesn’t seem to make any mention of the rumors suggesting the iPad Air 3 will have four speakers.

Rumors are certainly starting to pick up steam that Apple is hosting a mid-March event. In the last couple of weeks we’ve heard that Apple’s March event will be busy, with the iPhone 5se, iPad Air 3, and new Apple Watch bands set to take the stage.

Do you think Gene Munster is right? Should Apple use the March event to unveil a 4-inch iPhone?
