When something goes wrong with your electronic equipment, the first thing that most people would do is simply turn it off. Now, when that does not fix the problem, the next step would be to restart the device. On the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, restarting means holding the Sleep/Wake button until the “slide to power off” options comes on and then well… sliding to power it off. But what about when even that doesn’t work. That’s when you’ll need to do a hard reset.
How to hard reset iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus
Apple suggest that you, “should force restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch as a last resort, and only if it’s not responding.” Force Restart, Hard Reset, Force Reboot, all mean the same thing and you will see these phrases used interchangeably.
To force restart or hard reset your device, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons simultaneously for at least ten seconds. After about ten seconds, you should see the Apple logo and can release the buttons.
That’s it. Now you know how to hard reset your iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. This works with older iPhones as well, just that in case of iPhones prior to iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the Sleep/Wake (Power) button was on the top right corner.
