U.S. Supreme Court will hear Samsung’s appeal of Apple patent case

In December of last year, Samsung requested the United States Supreme Court to take on its longstanding patent case with Apple.

The court battle with Apple’s leading competitor has lasted almost five years up to this point, and despite Apple telling the Supreme Court that it should avoid the appeal from Samsung, it looks like the country’s highest court will be hearing the case after all. According to a report published by Reuters, Samsung will be battling against the “excessive penalties” that were levied against it, back when an initial court ruled that Samsung had copied “the patented designs of the iPhone.”

As it stands right now, Samsung has already paid the $548 million to Apple and is seeking a way to get reimbursed, or its money paid back, from Apple.
