Alphabet’s chairman, Eric Schmidt, is well known as a major presence within the Android army, but he’s not afraid to use the competition’s devices.
Schmidt spoke with CNBC recently at an event in Amsterdam, and the Alphabet chairman confirmed that he’s someone that still carries around two smartphones. Right now that means he’s carrying around an iPhone 6s from Apple, and a Samsung Galaxy S7. The publication asked him which one he prefers, and his response was pretty obvious:
“Samsung S7 is better. It has a better battery. And those of you who are iPhone users (know) I’m right,” Schmidt said”
However, at the same time, it’s also a curious answer because Alphabet owns Google, which has its own Nexus lineup of devices. While Schmidt may be enjoying his time trolling iPhone owners out there with his bold statement regarding battery life and iPhone owners knowing the “truth,” one could also argue that Schmidt is giving a clear hat tip to Samsung actually making the better Android-based devices, too.
It’s not that big of a surprise that Schmidt uses an iPhone, even if he’s openly admitting that fact right now. He was pictured using the iPhone earlier this year, for instance. And he’s been known to use the competition’s devices as far back as the BlackBerry 9900 when he was on Apple’s board.
Still, what do you think of Schmidt’s comments about battery life, and preferring Samsung’s Galaxy S7 over the iPhone 6s?
