Back in March of this year, Apple Maps began rolling out more detailed information for parking, and now, several months later, it’s all going official.
Parkopedia is a parking service company, and it has officially announced a brand new partnership with Apple to bring even more detailed parking data into Apple Maps. With the data integrated into Apple Maps, users will be able to see parking spots in over 75 countries across the globe, including North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
“We’re excited to deliver detailed information on more than 40 million parking spaces in 75 countries to Apple Maps customers. This is a very important milestone for Parkopedia. Our combined footprint in the consumer and automotive space is huge and this opens the doors to delivering a world of innovative solutions,” stated Parkopedia’s Head of Marketing, Christina Onesirosan Martinez.”
Parkopedia’s information covers quite a bit, including from parking lots and parking garages, and offers details on the payment types the parking area will take, the number of spaces available in the lot, and location. The Parkopedia website even offers the ability to reserve a spot in some parking lots and garages, and that process can be started within Apple Maps. However, reserving the spot, and paying for it, will take the user out of Apple Maps and to the company’s website.
The information is now available within Apple Maps, and new features will continue to roll out in due time.
