When you’re using your iPhone and receive a notification, a banner appears from the top of the screen containing the content of the notification and the app it belongs to. Notification banners may be useful but are usually disliked by users due to the large amount of space that they consume.
Resero 9 is a new jailbreak tweak that reduces the size of notification banners so that they take up less space, preventing the user from being interfered by large banners.
With the tweak installed, any notification that arrives while you’re using your iPhone will span the width and height of the Status bar only, rather than taking up a quarter of the screen. The content of the notification and the app it belongs to will be displayed in the Status bar. This takes up much less space and is less annoying especially when the notification arrives while you’re watching a movie on your iPhone or playing a game.
Once installed, the tweak doesn’t come with a dedicated preferences pane and requires zero configuration. It will be enabled by default to shrink down banner notifications to the size of the Status bar.
There are certainly other tweaks on Cydia that work like Resero 9. An example is Tinybar that works exactly the same but is slightly better in terms of aesthetics. I feel that the app icons in Resero’s notification banners need to be made slightly smaller and the texts have to be vertically aligned.
The good thing about Resero 9 is that it has been made for iOS 9.3.3 as opposed to Tinybar, which is yet to receive an update for the latest iOS firmware.
If you’re in to give this tweak a try, Resero 9 is available as a free package on Cydia’s BigBoss repo and supports iOS 9.3.3. Make sure to let us know what you think about it in the comments section below.
