‘Pokémon GO’ Gets its First Event With a Halloween Theme Beginning October 26

Pokémon GO launched earlier this year with a ton of fanfare, and while the hype around the title has quieted down, obviously there are still people out there playing the title.

And to keep them coming back, and perhaps even sway some new arrivals or bring back those who might’ve moved on, Niantic Labs has announced a brand new in-game event, the first of what’s expected to be many, with a Halloween theme to match the upcoming holiday event. The company’s official YouTube channel published a video announcing the upcoming event.

From October 26 to November 1, trainers will collect six candies from every pocket monster they catch — that’s twice the normal amount. For every Pokémon that’s transferred, the Professor will hand over two candies during the event, instead of the normal one. On top of that, the newly-added buddy Pokémon will reward trainers with four candies instead of one.

On top of all that, the “spooky” pocket monsters will show up with more regularity during the event’s timeframe. Which means players can expect of see Zubat, Golbat, Gengar, Gastly, Drowzee, Hypno, and Haunter more often than normal.
