AT&T’s DirecTV Now Launches November 30 With 100+ Streaming Channels

Rumors have been swirling for some time that AT&T had plans to launch its own TV streaming service, with packages of channels to choose from.

That is now officially official. AT&T has confirmed that its streaming service packages will be under the DirecTV Now banner, and that prices start at $30 per month. For that price, customers will get “60+ channels,” Here are the pricing breakdowns:

  • “Live A Little”: $30 per month for 60+ Channels
  • “Just Right”: $50 per month for 80+ Channels
  • “Go Big”: $60 per month for 100+ Channels
  • “Gotta Have It”: $70 per month for 120+ Channels

It’s worth noting that AT&T is running a limited-time promotion that will see new customers net the “Go Big” channel package option for only $35 per month, compared to the standard $60 per month. AT&T says that as long as a new customer signs up in time, they can keep that price for as long as they remain a subscriber. And subscriptions are not tied to long-term commitments or contracts.

All of the major network providers have been signed on at this point, with the notable exceptions of CBS and Showtime. AT&T says negotiations with those providers are still ongoing, so it sounds like those channels will be added at some point in the future. Customers can watch two streams simultaneously, and HBO and Cinemax can be added to any package for $5 per month — each.

As far as compatibility, DirecTV Now is available on all the major platform options, not including Roku, which has support launching sometime in 2017. There is a free 7-day trial that new customers will be able to access as well. It launches on November 30, this Wednesday, and it’s available on iOS, Android, macOS, Windows 10, the Amazon Fire TV, and the Chromecast.

There are a few missing features to take note of: The initial iteration of DirecTV Now will not support cloud-based DVR, and the isn’t an ability to pause what you’re watching, either. AT&T, does, however, plan on launching a “full DVR” feature at some point next year, though.

And, as some rumors had suggested, AT&T is indeed offering a free Apple TV ($139 variant) that includes three months of DirecTV Now’s “Go Big” plan at $35 per month.
