Samsung, who isn’t afraid to copy Apple at all, will apparently continue to copy Apple as it looks to spur sales of its aging flagship.
According to a report published by The Korea Herald, Samsung is planning on launching a “Jet Black” variant of the Galaxy S7. If the report pans out, Samsung could release the handset, in unknown markets, in early December — nine months after the Galaxy S7 originally launched. The report indicates Samsung wants to compete directly with Apple thanks to the new color, which it is also hoping will rekindle sales of the Galaxy S7. Apple released the Jet Black variant of its iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus earlier this year.
With the Galaxy Note 7 no longer available on the market, and with the Galaxy S8 expected to launch a little later in 2017, Samsung apparently believes it needs something to get some attention in its direction in the meantime. Launching a new color for a phone that’s nine months old is one way to do that, maybe.
Also, the already available Black Onyx color scheme for the Galaxy S7 is already pretty shiny, so what on earth a Jet Black variant might look like is intriguing, at least.
What do you think? Will launching a Jet Black Galaxy S7 matter at all?[via AndroidBeat; The Korea Herald]
