Rumor: Apple to Launch 5-inch iPhone with Dual-Camera Setup in 2017

The latest rumor surrounding the 2017 iPhone points to Apple launching a variant of the handset with a 5-inch screen and a dual-camera setup similar to what we have seen on the iPhone 7 Plus this year. The camera setup, however, will be arranged vertically rather than horizontally likely to maximise internal space for other components.

The report from Mac Otakara says that this new 5-inch iPhone will have specs similar to the “iPhone 7s” and “iPhone 7s Plus.” The final design and specifications of the 5-inch iPhone have not yet been finalised, with the final decision being taken by Apple and its suppliers in the second quarter of Apple’s 2017 fiscal year i.e. by the end of March 2017. It’s unclear if Apple will be switching to vertical configuration for the dual camera setup on the bigger Plus iPhone next year or not.

Rumors surrounding the next-generation iPhones point to Apple launching three new models, including a new premium Plus variant. The handsets will be powered by the company’s A11 chip based on TSMC’s 10nm fabrication process, and they are expected to feature a new all-glass design with a metallic chassis whilst still retaining their dust and water-resistant rating. Apple is also reportedly keen on using OLED displays on all variants of the handsets, but might be forced to keep it exclusive to the premium Plus model due to supply constraints. The handsets are also reported to come with a bigger screen while still retaining their existing physical dimensions. The introduction of wireless charging is also going to be among the key features of the 2017 iPhones.
