Armbands aren’t all that new, considering they’ve been around for smartphones for quite some time, but Twelve South is doing something a bit different.
At CES 2017, Twelve South has officially unveiled the “ActionSleeve” for the Apple Watch. This is an armband for Apple’s smart wearable, which effectively moves the device from around the wrist, and straps it higher up on the arm. The armband is designed to help with sports that might the efficacy of the Watch when worn around the wrist:
“The Apple Watch is the most advanced health & fitness device ever, but the wrist is not always the perfect place to wear it. Sports like Kickboxing, Weightlifting and CrossFit often require protective sports gear and full wrist mobility that can rule out the use of Apple Watch on the wrist.”
The ActionSleeve is a padded frame, which secures the Apple Watch in place, but also makes it possible to keep the touchscreen fully accessible, as well as the Digital Crown and the side button. The heart rate monitor continues to work as well, and Twelve South says it could actually improve heart rate tracking due to the fit.
Twelve South’s newest product is available now for $29.99, and it’s available in red and black for both the 38mm and 42mm Watch variants.
