It’s been almost a year since SoundCloud announced and rolled out its “Go” feature, which is a $9.99 per month subscription service that drops the ads.
Now, the company has announced another option for subscribers that are looking to save a bit more money per month, and who might not care about having access to the full library of content under SoundCloud’s brand. With the new SoundCloud Go option, customers can pay $5 per month, and have access to 120 million songs.
That compares to the more than 150 million songs available for $9.99 per month.
The biggest change is music previews, though. With the price drop, some songs will be locked behind the more expensive plan, and so if they pop up while streaming on the cheaper option, SoundCloud will only offer a preview of the song, before suggesting the user upgrades to the $9.99 per month option (which is now known as SoundCloud Go+). The company doesn’t articulate which songs are blocked off, either.
The new plan (and the updated SoundCloud Go+) is available in the United States, Ireland, France, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Germany. There is a 30-day free trial being offered as well.
