Streaming music is a big deal these days, just one of the many reasons why Apple Music even exists, and Drake’s latest effort indicates it certainly isn’t changing any time soon.
Drake’s More Life, which was launched recently, brought in a few record-setting accolades. Specifically, when it comes to Apple Music, the “playlist” was streamed 89.9 million times in just 24 hours. That means it broke the single-day album streams record for any service to date. In the same time period on Spotify, the playlist garnered 61.3 million streams. That means, despite the huge disparity between subscribers, Apple Music’s user base streamed More Life more than 20 million more times.
The playlist also set a record for Apple’s Beats 1 radio station, with Saturday’s episode of OVO Sound Radio.
The first song on the playlist, “Free Smoke,” was the most played song, with “Portland” and “Passionfruit” rounding out the top three. It certainly looks like More Life is going to break plenty of other records, which is doubly interesting considering Drake’s last album, Views broke and set those new records when it initially launched.
