T-Mobile Offering a Free iPhone 7 if You Switch From Another Carrier

T-Mobile, despite being the “Un-carrier,” still has a very carrier-specific desire: For you, if you aren’t already subscribed to the Magenta network, to switch over.

And while the Un-carrier movement has seen the other biggest networks in the United States re-adopt unlimited data, among other things, it still not averse to sweetening the deal with some outright deals if you are on the fence of switching networks.

Right now, T-Mobile is offering a free iPhone 7, or a $100 iPhone 7 Plus, to those who switch to the Un-carrier. To get the free (or cheap) device, you’ll need to port your old number into T-Mobile’s network, and you’ll need to trade in your device towards that new iPhone. The deal actually works for new and existing customers (existing customers just need to add a line and port in that number from another carrier).

There are some caveats, of course, namely which devices qualify for trade-in. That would include the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, Samsung Galaxy S7, Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, and the Samsung Galaxy S7 active.

To get the deal to work, there are the obvious steps: Head into a T-Mobile store, port over your phone number, and trade in your device. And then, once you leave the store, you’ll need to go to T-Mobile’s online promotion site and enter the code: 17Q1APLTRADE. Once that’s done, and it’s verified by T-Mobile, you’ll get a MasterCard gift card in the mail, which will either cover the cost of the iPhone 7’s payments, or drop the iPhone 7 Plus to $100. It will also cover the down payment of your new iPhone as well.

Do you plan on taking advantage of this deal?
