This Jailbreak Tweak Brings YouTube’s Volume HUD to Your iPhone

It can be extremely annoying when the volume HUD covers a large portion of the screen while you’re watching a video on your iPhone. YouTube got around this by displaying the volume HUD in the Status bar when watching a fullscreen video.

Inspired by YouTube’s design of the volume HUD, a Cydia developer decided to turn it into a jailbreak tweak. Dubbed as YouTubeVolume, this jailbreak tweak brings YouTube-inspired volume HUD to your iPhone. It replaces the default volume HUD of iOS with the one found in YouTube.

The result is a less obtrusive and a more beautiful volume HUD that appears right within the Status bar. Whenever you press the volume buttons on the side of your iPhone, the Status bar will gradually fade away and the new volume HUD will appear in its place. The volume bar appears as a thin line in which the solid white portion dictates the level of the volume.

YouTubeVolume doesn’t offer much configuration other than a killswitch toggle to enable or disable it on demand. When you install it, you first have to enable it to see the new volume HUD.

If you find the stock volume HUD obtrusive then you should definitely check out this new jailbreak tweak. It is quite similar to other tweaks like Sonus and Amalthea and completely depends upon your aesthetic preferences when it comes to choosing the tweak that looks best.

If you’re in to give this tweak a try, YouTubeVolume is available as a free package in Cydia’s BigBoss repo. Let us know what you think about it in the comments below.
