Apple Music continues to aim for noteworthy exclusives, all the while expanding its library of original content.
Documentaries within the music industry are no stranger to Apple Music, of course. In 2015, the music streaming service hosted the Taylor Swift The 1989 World Tour: Live and more recently the documentary focused on the iconic 808 drum machine, 808: The Movie. And now the company has snagged another major documentary regarding one of the biggest names in the music industry: Clive Davis.
The upcoming documentary, entitled Clive Davis: The Soundtrack of Our Lives, is directed by Chris Perkel, and it made its debut last night at the Tribeca Film Festival. The film itself is based on Davis’s 2013 autobiography, and it covers the sweeping career of the music executive that influenced or had some kind of impact on a variety of artists, including Aretha Franklin and Christina Aguilera, among many others.
“Apple is a global innovator that has revolutionized the distribution of music,” said Davis. “It is a touching honor to share the music and unique stories that have shaped my career with millions of Apple Music subscribers around the world. I am overjoyed to work with them to continue this incredible journey!”
At this stage, Apple Music has landed the exclusive rights to the documentary, but there does not appear to be a launch date set in stone just yet. If you’re a fan of the music industry, this is one documentary that should prove interesting.[via The Verge; Deadline]
