Apple has made it known that they have plans to launch a new, redesigned Mac Pro at some point in the (hopefully near) future.
The new design is still being developed inside Apple HQ, so basically all of the details are basically still an unknown quantity at this point. However, the main idea is a modular design, where owners can put together their own pieces and make the machine they want to pay for, and use. What that design will look like in the end, though, is also a mystery.
So the fine folks over at Curved.de (by way of 9to5Mac) have put together a few concept images of what they believe the new Mac Pro might look like. There’s a familiarity to the design that’s immediately noticeable from older version of the Mac Pro, but there’s also some Mac mini in there, too.
The design features a box in the center that can swivel, and allow access to its internal parts. There are two slots in the concept for full-size graphics cards, replaceable SSD drives, and much, much more. The back of the box includes a variety of ports, including HDMI, USB Type-C, FireWire, and LAN. All the bases are covered in this dream machine, and with a unique design that, while probably not realistically ever going to happen, is still pretty awesome to look at.
The concept even includes putting Apple’s Touch Bar right on the front. Just for good measure.
The concept images also include what Apple’s return to the external display market might look like. Apple has already confirmed it will be working on external displays again, and this vision of the future is certainly eye catching with its edge-to-edge design.
What do you think of the concept? What are you hoping to see out of the new Mac Pro?
