Instagram Has More Than 700 Million Users, Sets Sights on 1 Billion

Earlier this month, while touting new stickers for Stories, Instagram revealed that it sees 200 million people use the feature every single day.

And now the social network built around photos and videos has announced that it’s reached an impressive milestone: More than 700 million users. The company also noted that the last 100 million “joined faster than ever.” At this rate, Instagram could plausibly reach more than 1 billion users before the end of 2017.

“We’re thrilled to announce that our community has grown to more than 700 million Instagrammers. And the last 100 million of you joined faster than ever.

We’ve made it even easier for people across the globe to join the Instagram community, share their experiences and strengthen connections to their friends and passions. With new features like stories, live video and disappearing messages in Direct, people now have more ways than ever to express themselves and feel closer to what matters to them.”

It’s impossible to argue that Instagram is one of the most popular social networks on the planet, and, thanks to new features the platform continues to add (and mimic from competitors like Snapchat), it doesn’t look like that growth is going to slow down anytime soon.

How often do you use Instagram?
