Apple has found a way to reward Apple Watch owners with stickers and achievement medals, giving owners a way to show off their accomplishments as they achieve them.
At the same time, celebrating holidays is also part of the mix. For instance, we’ve already seen the company celebrate Thanksgiving Day last year with special Apple Watch challenges, and most recently even help folks get outside on Earth Day 2017 with new stickers and medals to earn. And now, as revealed a little ahead of schedule by 9to5Mac, even Mother’s Day is going to get some special attention.
The report indicates that Apple will have a special rose iMessage sticker, as well as the same design for an achievement medal, for those who complete a 1 mile workout (walk, run, wheelchair) on Sunday, May 14. The workout has to span a one-mile distance to achieve the sticker and medal, and completed in one session. And, as usual, that data needs to be shared with Apple’s HealthKit, either through Apple’s own first-party app, or through a third-party app that integrates data with HealthKit.
The new medal and iMessage sticker are only available for those in the United States. Mother’s Day isn’t an international holiday.
As is also typical, if you miss the one mile workout on Sunday, May 14, the achievement medal and the iMessage sticker won’t be accessible after that, as it will disappear. The new challenge won’t appear in the Activity app on the iPhone until Friday.
How are you liking these Apple Watch challenges so far?
