Famed and reliable leaker Onleaks has posted new renders of the iPhone 8 based on leaked CAD images. The renders give us a look at the upcoming OLED iPhone 8 from all possible angles and corners.
The renders show us how the edge-to-edge OLED display on the iPhone 8 would look like. It also shows how glossy the overall handset would look like, which will likely make it a fingerprint magnet similar to other glass-designed phones like the Galaxy S8.
The renders also show the vertical camera layout, though they continue to protrude slightly from the rear of the device.
The renders don’t show a fingerprint scanner at the rear of the device. While Apple is expected to integrate the fingerprint scanner into the OLED display of the iPhone 8, the company has been facing some technological and yield issues. So, if reports are anything to go by, the company reportedly plans on moving the Touch ID scanner at the rear as a backup plan.
The OLED iPhone 8 is expected to feature a bezel-less design at the front. It will feature glass panels at the front and rear that will be sandwiching a metallic or steel chassis. The all-glass design of the handset will allow Apple to offer wireless charging on the handset. Additionally, the handset is also expected to come with fast wired charging, some kind of facial recognition using a revolutionary 3D camera at the front, AR features for the rear camera, and more.
However, the use of many complex components and yield issues have raised concerns as to whether Apple will be able to launch the iPhone 8 at its usual timeframe. Reports have regularly claimed that even if Apple ends up unveiling the iPhone 8 in September, the handset will likely have a delayed launch and be available in extremely short supply for the first couple of months.
