When Apple unveiled the new Macbook Pro last year, the highlighting new feature was the Touch Bar. It is a thin touchscreen display situated right at the top of the keyboard and brings dynamic controls that change depending on the app that is open.
Rumors have it that the upcoming iPhone 8 will feature a “Function Area” that will be located below the OLED display and will work pretty much the same way as the Touch Bar in the new Macbook Pros. While this is very exciting, there are chances that it won’t happen.
As always is the case, a Cydia developer has taken the challenge onto himself to build a tweak that will bring the Touch Bar to jailbroken iPhone devices. The developer in charge is LaughingQuoll who is well-known for amazing tweaks such as Noctis and Decorus.
He shared a teaser video of the upcoming jailbreak tweak on Twitter, which gives us a glimpse at how the Touch Bar will look and function on the iPhone.

The developer has shared a couple more videos on his Twitter page where he demonstrates the upcoming tweak. It is pretty much a work-in-progress and you shouldn’t be expecting it to be released soon, but he is planning to release it to beta testers by this week.
The Touch Bar in the new Macbook Pro received mixed reviews, mainly due to the fact that it is inconvenient to use while you’re interacting using a keyboard and mouse. In the case of iPhone, which doesn’t have a pointing device like a mouse, I think it is going to be a great feature and will provide a whole new way of interacting with our iPhone.
We don’t know yet when this tweak will be released, but we’ll keep you updated as more progress is made.
