Google Assistant is a personal voice assistant developed originally for Android devices and is considered an upgrade of Google Now. Assistant is now available for iOS and this a good news for those who are not in favor of Apple’s native voice assistant, Siri.
Although Assistant can be accessed easily via the Today view, it’s not as convenient as pressing and holding the Home button, which activates Siri. As always is the case, if you’re jailbroken, you can easily replace Siri with Google Assistant.
By taking advantage of a popular tweak known as Activator, you can easily make Google Assistant your default voice assistant. That said, you cannot compare Assistant with Siri as it’s simply an app and doesn’t have access to system functions just like Siri does.
If you wish to use Google Assistant instead of Siri on your iPhone, here’s how.
How to Replace Siri with Google Assistant
Step 1: Download and install Google Assistant from the App Store as well as Activator from Cydia.
Step 2: Open the Activator app from the Home screen.
Step 3: Tap on Anywhere.
Step 4: Under the Home Button section, tap on Long Hold.
Step 5: Scroll down to the User Applications section and tap on Assistant to select it. Then press on the i button next to it and select ‘Open App Immediately’.
Step 6: Go back to the Anywhere screen and this time open Short Hold. Scroll down to the System Actions section and select Do Nothing.
Step 7: Now open the Settings app and tap on Siri. Toggle it off to disable Siri completely.
That’t it! Now when you press and hold the Home button, it will open Google Assistant instead of Siri.Like this post? Share it!
