Themed Beats-branded headphones aren’t new by any means, and Apple is adding to the mix with a brand new partnership with Balmain.
Apple is partnering up with the French fashion company Balmain to bring new Beats headphones to market. Specifically, there are new Powerbeats3 Wireless Headphones and Beats Studio Wireless Headphones to choose from. Both of which feature a “Safari” color scheme and a gold trim. They certain stand out.
“The Beats/Balmain collection delivers premium sound and exquisite design reflective of Balmain’s iconic style. The Beats Studio Wireless headphones are finished in Safari color with metallic gold accents to represent Olivier Rousteing’s dreamlike vision of an urban safari. Each comes with a matching suede case adorned with a Balmain plaque and the symbolic Balmain coin zipper pull.”
In an interview with Vogue, Balmain creative director and designer Olivier Rousteing said that the goal of the new designs was to bring French luxury to technology. To help promote the partnership and new Beats headphones, the companies will be working with Kylie Jenner in new advertisements.
“Olivier Rousteing is in Los Angeles this week, christening the new Melrose Place Balmain store with a celebrity-heavy blowout. But the West Coast flagship isn’t the only new project he’s unveiling. A music obsessive, Rousteing is releasing a custom headphone collection with the biggest player in the market, Beats by Dr. Dre. “My connection with them began when they came to my show four years ago,” Rousteing said via phone from Paris. “What they love about Balmain is that I embrace music. We’ve always had an idea of making something happen together.”
Both the Powerbeats3 Wireless Headphones are available beginning today from Apple’s online store, and they are priced at $249.95. The Studio Wireless Headphones are also available beginning today, and they are priced at $599.95.[via MacRumors; Vogue]
