Apple Previews New Emoji Coming to iOS 11 and macOS High Sierra Later This Year on World Emoji Day

To celebrate World Emoji Day (July 17), Apple has given a preview of all the new emoji that it would be debuting with the release of iOS 11, watchOS 4, and macOS High Sierra later this year. The new emoji add greater diversity and allow users to better express themselves.

The new emoji previewed by Apple include Woman with a headscarf, Bearded person, Breastfeeding, and food items like sandwich and coconut.

In addition to previewing these upcoming emoji, Apple will also be highlighting apps on the App Store that lets one do creative things with emoji. Lastly, the iTunes Movies store is also using emoji for certain movie titles.

Apple has been at the top of supporting new emoji and even recommending the Unicode consortium to add new emoji. This is in stark contrast to Google and other Android OEMs which end up shipping their devices with their own customised emoji set that are difficult to understand and are incompatible with many devices.
