According to TNW, Facebook is testing a new GIF creator on the app’s camera. This further enhances the level of features available on Facebook’s camera app. Users can combine multiple effects of the camera app before turning them into a GIF.
GIFs created through this feature are short, and only last a few seconds. As expected, you can use the full range of effects and frames from the Facebook camera. You can also add the GIF to your Facebook story, post it to your profile, or save it to your device.
Users can see a “Normal/GIF” tab on their Facebook camera app if this feature is live for them. The feature is currently being tested and even being sent out to a handful of users. TNW has already spotted it, although Facebook is yet to begin a wider rollout. The company frequently tests out new features like these, so we won’t be surprised if it’s eventually shelved.
The GIF creator appears to be one of the only recent features that Facebook didn’t steal from Snapchat. The company has previously borrowed a handful of features like filters, stories and many others from its industry.
