At this point, it’s no secret that Apple is working on the iPhone 8 — a premium and more expensive iPhone that would launch alongside the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus in September this year.
This premium iPhone 8 or iPhone Pro, whatever Apple ends up calling it, will come with some new features that would be missing on other iPhones. These features would be ahead of its time and difficult to manufacture which is why Apple would be charging a premium for the handset.
In his editorial, Gautam mentioned a few features which he thinks would convince people to upgrade to the iPhone Pro. This includes an OLED display, wireless charging, facial recognition, faster processor, Touch ID scanner embedded into the display, additional storage capacity, and a vastly improved camera with groundbreaking AR features.
As of now, it is almost confirmed that the iPhone 8 would come with a bezel-less design and an OLED display, while the other two iPhones would continue to make use of an LCD panel and feature a front that is similar to the ongoing iPhones. A bezel-less design alone would not be good enough for Apple to charge $1200 for the iPhone Pro since Samsung has already achieved the same with its Galaxy S8.
I can possibly see Apple charging a premium for the iPhone Pro if it manages to include all the above-mentioned features on the handset. However, paying $1000+ for the iPhone Pro if it comes with any one of the features mentioned above would be a tough pill to digest.
This brings us to the topic of today’s poll: Which new feature in iPhone Pro alone would be enough to convince you to spend $1200 on it? Take part in our poll below and drop your comments below to let us know your thoughts.
