Instagram has always been built on a social idea, sharing photos and videos, and comments have been a tentpole feature for the community.
As such, making the comment system better in a variety of different ways has been a pet project for the company, especially recently. We first saw a focus on quality of comments, and a concerted effort to reduce spam and offensive comments. Instagram is using artificial intelligence and machine learning to combat those issues, while at the same time trying to improve comments in general.
Today, Instagram officially announced that it is officially moving to threaded comments, which means they should be better organized from this point forward for many Instagram users.
“Comment threads help you keep track of conversations and make it easy to respond to a specific thread. This update will make your feed an even better place to share interests, get inspired and connect with others.
Now, when you hit reply underneath any comment, your response will automatically be grouped right underneath it in a thread.”
The new comment threading system is rolling out now, and it’s part of Instagram version 24, which is rolling out now to iOS and Android users via their respective digital app storefronts.
There isn’t much else here, as Instagram is rolling out these improvements to the comment system in waves. However, the changes the social network is changing, both behind-the-scenes and right up front, should be a welcomed change for most users.
How often do you use the comment system in Instagram?
