If you’re an old jailbreak user, then you should be familiar with a fairly popular tweak known as Auxo that brings a completely new look and feel to the iOS Control Center. Unfortunately, the tweak never received an update for iOS 10, which has left many jailbreak users looking for alternatives.
SwitcherCC is a brand new jailbreak tweak that seems to have been inspired by Auxo. The tweak brings a similar functionality to jailbroken devices running on iOS 10. While it doesn’t look exactly the same as Auxo, it does a good job at mimicking its functionality. At its core, the tweak’s goal is to combine the iOS 10 Control Center and App Switcher into a single interface so that you can access both of these features from one place.
With SwitcherCC installed, when you double press the Home button or swipe up from the bottom of the screen, you’ll view a a brand new interface that displays both the Control Center as well as the App Switcher.
At the bottom of SwitcherCC’s interface, you’ll find Control Center which is a mini version of the original. The new Control Center is split into three pages. On the first page, you can access toggles, the brightness slider and the Quick Launch apps, whereas on the second page, you’ll find the AirPlane, AirDrop, and Night Shift shortcut buttons. The third page, which is the last page, features the music player and its controls, which look quite similar to the original Control Center.
Right above Control Center is the App Switcher which displays the preview cards of all the apps that are open and running in the background. Just like the original App Switcher, you can swipe up a particular card to close the corresponding app.
SwitcherCC comes with a dedicated preferences pane in Settings where you can access all the additional configuration options that the tweak offers. The settings are as follows:
- Enable or disable the tweak.
- Apply a dark theme to Control Center’s interface.
- Toggle on “Sleek Look”.
- Enlarge the size of the app preview cards.
- Replace the original Control Center with SwitcherCC.
Whenever you make changes to the tweak’s settings, you don’t have to respring your iPhone. The new settings take effect right away so you should be able to view the new changes without performing a respring.
When you install SwitcherCC from Cydia, you first have to enable it via its preferences pane before it starts working. Also note that you have to enable the “Replace CC” option if you wish to view SwitcherCC’s interface whenever you launch Control Center.
Since Auxo hasn’t been updated for iOS 10 yet, SwitcherCC is a solid replacement for it. If you’ve been looking for an Auxo alternative, then I’d recommend that you give this new jailbreak tweak a try. It looks quite nice and functions smoothly without causing any issues.
Control Center and the App Switcher are the frequently used features of iOS that serve an important purpose. One allows you to quickly access important toggles and settings, whereas the other lets you manage the open apps on your iPhone. With Control Center and App Switcher merged together, you can conveniently enjoy the best of both worlds from a single interface.
The best part is that SwitcherCC is available as a free package in Cydia’s BigBoss repo. As of now, it supports iOS 10 only and works with iPhone only. If you have a jailbroken iPad running on iOS 10, then you’re out of luck.
