Apple would have likely pushed out the Golden Master build of iOS 11 to developers next week after its September 12 event. However, the iOS 11 GM build has made its way into the hands of 9to5Mac digging into which has revealed the new LTE Apple Watch that Apple will be unveiling next week.
The new LTE capable Apple Watch is shown briefly in the companion Watch app of iOS 11. The photo shows the smartwatch as having the same form factor and design as the Apple Watch Series 2 with but a few tweaks. The Digital Crown, for example, has a red finish that makes it stand out from the rest of the watch’s body.
The complications on the watch face for phone connectivity also hint at LTE connectivity along with a network signal meter.
The inclusion of LTE connectivity on the Apple Watch should make it more useful and less dependent on the iPhone, though the same design language is going to disappoint a lot of consumers. It will also be interesting to see how Apple manages to get away with the additional battery drain introduced by the addition of the LTE chip on the smartwatch.
