Facebook has announced the arrival of a bunch of Halloween themed camera effects, posts, as well as an interactive game which requires users to jump out of a virtual haunted house. Facebook Live videos will also get some custom Halloween effects to spice up the holiday. The social networking giant is not new to holiday themed updates, especially for a widely celebrated holiday like Halloween.
We saw Instagram getting a similar update yesterday with the addition of a handful of Halloween themed filters. As for the game launched by Facebook, users play as trick or treaters, and are required to get out of a haunted house using their head to navigate from side to side. This allows the users to climb higher and score more points. Once finished, users can share their score on Facebook and even challenge other friends.
Text posts will see the addition of new Halloween themed colored background options, so the new features aren’t just limited to pictures or videos. These effects and the interactive game will be available starting today, and will remain on the app until the 31st of October. Messenger will also see a bunch of filters and effects for picture/video posts.
Users will also be notified of local Halloween themed events directly on their news feed, thus increasing user interaction at nearby events. The update should be live on Facebook and Messenger right away, although it might take some time to show up depending on your location.
