Some iOS users have been experiencing a rather annoying keyboard bug which autocorrects the letter “i” to “A” followed by a question mark. It was expected that the bug would be fixed with a software patch, but in the meanwhile, Apple has posted a workaround on its support page to get rid of this bug temporarily.
Users can fix this by heading over to Settings → General → Keyboard → Text Replacement and typing the uppercase letter “I” in the Phrase section, and the lowercase “i” in the Shortcut section. Keep in mind that this is only a makeshift solution which will be fixed for good with the next iOS update.
The bug was first discovered after users updated to iOS 11.1. Although it’s not seen globally, a large portion of the users have experienced this particular bug. There’s no word on when the next iOS update will hit devices, but the wait shouldn’t be too long.
Apple’s support document mentions that more details will be added as “information becomes available”, so we expect to hear more about this in the days to come. There’s still no word on what’s causing this issue, however.
