Apple has announced the addition of a new activity challenge for Veteran’s Day (Nov 11). Upon completion of this challenge, Watch users will be able to earn a special badge, and an exclusive iMessage sticker. To earn the badge and the sticker, users simply have to log an eleven minute workout using their Apple Watch this Saturday.
Data will be recorded and confirmed by Apple’s Healthkit. So you can either use the stock Workout app or stick to a third-party app that shares data with HealthKit. The challenge will only appear to the American users of the Apple Watch since Veteran’s Day is celebrated in the U.S. This feature should be live on all versions of the Apple Watch as long as the users are updated to the latest version of watchOS.
Initiatives like these are designed to keep the users fit and build awareness about the importance of physical exercise in our lives. Apple previously held a similar challenge in accordance with the National Parks Foundation a few months ago.
Apple has been pushing for more health features to be built into the Apple Watch. The company recently announced a partnership with Stanford and American Well to detect abnormal heart rhythms among Watch wearers. Abnormal heart rhythms are usually associated with strokes, and even blood clots in the arteries. Shortly after, Apple joined a pilot program set up by the FDA, designed to speed up the approval process for health related products.
