Apple Seeds iOS 11.2 Beta 2 to Developers [Update: Apple Pay Cash Introduced With Public Beta 2]

iOS 11

Apple today officially seeded the latest developer beta software for the latest iteration of iOS.

Today, Apple seeded the second developer beta of iOS 11.2. This first developer seed follows in line with the public launch of iOS 11.0.3 earlier in October. Apple released iOS 11.1 at the beginning of November.

Registered developers can download the latest iOS 11.2 beta from Apple’s dedicated Developer Center. If the proper configuration profile is installed in the iOS device of choice, the new pre-release software can also be downloaded and installed as an over-the-air update.

Apple also has the public beta program, but there is no word on when a public beta of this latest beta will be released for the public beta testers. It may arrive sometime this week.

As it stands right now, there is no word on what is different or new in the second iOS 11.2 beta. However, it is possible that it may introduce features that Apple initially announced with the unveiling of iOS 11, including Apple Pay Cash — which is not expected to arrive with the upcoming public launch of iOS 11.1. iCloud support for Messages is another feature that may be coming along with iOS 11.2.

It’s also wroth noting that the first developer beta did introduce new features and fixes. That includes a fix for the bug discovered in the stock calculator app, which caused rapid inputs to not register correctly. iOS 11.2 also introduces “SiriKit on HomePod,” which will allow for limited third-party app features to work with Siri via the upcoming smart speaker. If any new features are discovered in the second developer beta of iOS 11.2, we will update this post accordingly.

Update: Apple has officially seeded the second public beta for approved public beta testers. But, that’s not all. Rolling out with the second public beta is the inclusion of Apple’s much-anticipated Apple Pay Cash feature. This has been in testing behind-the-scenes for weeks now, and Apple is apparently preparing to launch the feature with the next big update to iOS.

How have you enjoyed your experience with iOS 11 so far? What are you hoping Apple adds or fixes in this upcoming release of the mobile operating system (if they aren’t already fixed in iOS 11.1)?
