It’s been more than a week since the iPhone X launched worldwide, but we’ve already started to hear some of the problems that owners are facing with Apple’s new flagship model such as the green lines on display and the display becoming unresponsive for a few seconds in cold weather.
Some iPhone X users are reporting that they are experiencing “crackling” or “buzzing” sound from the device’s front-facing earpiece speaker at high or max volumes.
Are you hearing a crackling sound coming from the front facing speaker of your iPhone x when you play music at full volume?

MacRumors is reporting that few forum members have also reported the issue. The crackling sound is heard with any kind of audio playback including phone calls, music, videos, alarms, and ringtones.
In September, some iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus users had also reported a similar crackling sounds issue during calls, and Apple had fixed the issue in iOS 11.0.2. So I am assuming that this is a different issue, as iPhone X came preinstalled with iOS 11.0.3, so would have included the fix.
The iPhone X’s front-facing earpiece also doubles as a speaker and combines with the speaker at the bottom of the device to deliver stereo sound. So it is not clear if it is a hardware or software issue at the moment.
Apple is currently replacing the affected iPhone X units free of charge and collecting diagnostic information so that their engineers can investigate the problem. It is difficult to conclude that it is just an isolated issue, as the issue is experienced only at high or max volumes.
Let us know if you’re experiencing the “crackling” or “buzzing” sound from your iPhone X’s front-facing earpiece speaker at high or max volumes. If you’re facing the issue then you should probably book a Genius Bar appointment to get a replacement.
