Samsung has taken a direct potshot at the iPhone in its latest ad. The 1-minute video shows the smartphone journey of a young guy starting from 2007 who buys the original iPhone.
Over the next ten years, the guy keeps using different iPhones which are behind Samsung’s Galaxy devices used by his girlfriend in terms of features like wireless charging, a big screen, S-Pen, 3.5mm headphone jack, and a beautiful OLED display. While his girlfriend enjoyed all these features on her latest Galaxy device, the protagonist’s latest iPhone for that time always lacked these features.
The ad even highlighted the lack of waterproofing on the iPhone 6s while the feature was already present on the Galaxy S7.
Finally, in 2017, on the eve of the iPhone X launch, the protagonist goes ahead and switches to the Galaxy Note 8. The ad even takes a subtle jab at the notch of the iPhone X as one of the people standing in the queue for the iPhone X launch had a notch-like haircut.
Samsung highlights the Galaxy Note 8 at the end of the ad. The company’s latest Note comes after the ill-fated Note 7 from last year. It features a 6.3-inch QHD+ Infinity Display, S-Pen, Iris scanner, dual-camera setup, and wireless charging.
Samsung has always taken a jab at Apple with its ads but I must say that with this one, the company has outdone itself. What do you think about this ad from Samsung?
