Google today updated the Gmail app for iOS with support for the iPhone X. The company has embraced the notch on the handset with the latest update to its Gmail app. The updated app shows more information on the 5.8-inch OLED display of the iPhone X.
If you are in your inbox, you can now see at least two new emails on your iPhone X post the update. The older version of the app which was not compatible with the iPhone X displayed huge black bars at the top and bottom.
Apart from iPhone X support, the update also introduces support for non-Gmail accounts through IMAP. This means that you can now set up your non-Gmail account in the Gmail app for iOS as well.
It was only last week that Google updated Google Drive, Sheets, Docs and Slides with iPhone X support. So far, apart from its productivity suite of apps and Gmail, Google has also updated Google Maps with iPhone X support. Despite that, plenty of other apps from the company including Inbox remain unoptimised for the iPhone X so far.
Do you use Gmail as the primary mail app on your iPhone X?
