We’ve already seen a couple of cases where the Apple Watch’s heart rate feature has recognized irregular heart rate. This feature has saved lives. Now, Apple is teaming up with Stanford for an official Heart Rythm study using the Apple Watch. The data gathered during this study will be used to detect and track heart issues like atrial fibrillation.
You can be a part of the study. All you need is a compatible Apple Watch and the app.
You’ll need to own an Apple Watch Series 1 and above to enroll in this study. The original Apple Watch isn’t supported.
Now, go to the App Store and download the Apple Heart Study app.
Open the Apple Heart Study app and go through the sign-up wizard. Review the What to Expect section, read the Participation Requirements and if you qualify, tap on the I meet these requirements button.
Then, enter your state where you live, and your birthday. Then tap on Continue.
When the app asks to send you notifications, tap on Allow.
Now, when the app is ready to let you know that you’ve been selected for the study, you’ll get a notification.
