A month back, people were saying that jailbreak is dead, and how Apple had won the cat and mouse game with hackers. Things have changed quite drastically in the last few days, as saurik aka Jay Freeman, founder of Cydia has revealed that there could be more than 3 major iOS 11 jailbreak tools.
Hacker coolstar, developer of the SemiRestore tool has hinted that he plans to release an iOS 11 jailbreak tool, and had asked people on Twitter to suggest names for it. saurik had revealed the possibility of 3 major iOS 11 jailbreak tools:
Essentially, I think we are about to end up with three (or more! but there are three obvious ones) “high profile” (as in, from people you have heard of and who have been involved in this scene for many years) jailbreak tools for iOS 11, each with a different implementation of the core functionality (and one in particular which is going to be extremely different, as it doesn’t involve a “jailbreak daemon” ;P).
saurik had revealed that he was working with people from past jailbreaks, it indicated that they were working on another iOS 11 jailbreak tool. It is not clear who he is referring to, but it could be the Pangu Jailbreak or the TaiG Jailbreak team who have worked with him previously for iOS 8 and iOS 9 jailbreaks. It is highly unlikely that he is referring to the evad3rs, who were the dream team of jailbreaking. The last jailbreak they had released was evasi0n to jailbreak iOS 7.
So we are assuming that the three major tools that he is referring to, could be LiberiOS jailbreak which was released by Jonathan Levein earlier this week, coolstar’s iOS 11 jailbreak and iOS 11 jailbreak by people from past jailbreaks.
This is great news for jailbreakers. I am especially excited about the jailbreak that is going to be “extremely different”. It would also important that these jailbreak tools come with Cydia and Cydia Substrate that is compatible with iOS 11, so jailbreakers can make the most of their jailbroken iPhone, iPad and iPod touch by installing jailbreak tweaks and themes.
