A malicious link is being shared on Twitter opening which on an iPhone, iPad or Mac is leading to freezing or respring issues.
Receiving the link itself in the Messages app itself will lead to your iPhone or iPad respringing or the Messages app freezing. Other issues that can possibly show up on receiving this link include Safari crashing or heavy lag in the Messages app.
In case a friend has forwarded you the link leading to stability issues on your iPhone, iPad or Mac, quit the Messages app. Then, start it back again and delete the conversation as soon as possible in which you received the link. There is no other way to get the Messages app to work again on your device without deleting the conversation for now.
Ideally, you should not really forward these links to your friends or family but in case you’d like to trouble them, the link is embedded in the tweet above. And if you are curious to see what effect the link has on your device, do try it out and let us know in the comments below.
This is not the first time that we are seeing a malicious link being able to freeze iOS or macOS or make the whole OS crash. Nonetheless, like with previous such links discovered, Apple is likely to fix the cause behind this with an upcoming update to iOS.
