Following minor updates to the iOS and macOS platforms, Apple has also seen fit to update the tvOS and watchOS platforms, both receiving their own minor updates.
Today, Apple officially seeded the newest versions of tvOS and watchOS to the public. For the former, updated set-top box will be running tvOS 11.2.6; for the latter, updated smartwatches will be running watchOS 4.2.3. In each case, the new software is a minor update, and is not meant to bring with them any major forward-facing new features or additions to the platforms.
To update your Apple TV, simply head over to System –> Software Update, and follow the onscreen instructions to download and install the new software over-the-air (OTA). If you are an Apple TV owner that has Automatic Downloads turned on, then the new software will automatically download and install without any further input from you.
Meanwhile, if you want to update your Apple Watch to watchOS 4.2.3, you need to make sure that the Apple Watch is connected to your iPhone, that the smartwatch has at least 50% battery life, and that it is connected to the charger. Once those steps are met, simply open the Watch iOS app, head into the Settings section, then go to General –> Software Update.
Both tvOS 11.2.6 and watchOS 4.2.3 are available right now, so if you have some free time and want to update your devices, you can do so now.
