Apple Pay Adds 25 New Banks and Credit Unions in U.S.; bunq in Spain and Italy

Apple added Apple Pay support for 20 new banks and credit unions in the United States earlier this month, and now it’s back at it again.

As reported today by 9to5Mac, Apple has officially added support for Apple Pay, the company’s mobile payment option, with more than 25 new banks and credit unions in the United States. As is typically the case at this point, Apple is filling in the blanks, bringing into the fold more regional banking establishments across the U.S..

Here are the new additions:

  • Central Savings Bank

  • Family Savings Credit Union

Meanwhile, over in Spain and Italy, Apple Pay support is now available from bunq.

Our Take

It’s good to see that so many banks are offering support for mobile payments in general. Using the chip in a card can be frustrating, as it takes awhile to work, but just tapping your phone to a payment terminal is super quick. Even if it means you still might have to input your PIN to authorize the purchase.
