Couple of weeks back, Chinese security researcher and hacker, Min Zheng aka SparkZheng had revealed that the two vulnerabilities that he had discovered are still not patched in iOS 11.3.
The news of the vulnerabilities had sparked off speculations of the much-awaited iOS 11.3 jailbreak. However, as we had advised, it was still early days to get too excited.
He is back with an update. He has tweeted that he has got root shell access on iOS 11.3. Let’s not get too excited yet, but it does suggest that iOS 11.3 is exploitable, but it still needs someone to use it to develop an iOS 11.3 jailbreak.
Zheng has previously demoed a jailbreak for iOS 9.2.1 called the Flying JB, so it remains to be seen if he will be able to release an iOS 11.3 jailbreak.
Currently, Electra Jailbreak is the latest stable jailbreak available for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. It supports iOS 11 – iOS 11.1.2 and installs Cydia.
With iOS 11.4 currently in beta, it would probably make sense to wait for iOS 11.4 to be released to the public as it will most likely be the last update for iOS 11. As Apple will most likely switch its focus to iOS 12 after it unveils the next major software update for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
