There have been rumors swirling around for quite some time now suggesting Apple has been working on launching new color options for its latest generation smartphones.
In March, specifically, there were two reports suggesting that Apple would launch the iPhone X in a new color to help spur sales, and that the color would be a “Blush Gold” variant. The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, meanwhile, have also been the topic of color choices, with rumors suggesting the company is planning on launching at least one new option at some point in the early stages of 2018.
Now, MacRumors has a new report suggesting that we might see a new color option revealed as early as Monday, April 9. According to the publication, and citing an internal memo circulated at Virgin Mobile, Apple is going to announce a (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus on April 9. The paperwork also states that pre-orders will be going live at the same time, so it’s possible that while Apple will announce the new smartphone color options tomorrow, and pre-orders might go live on the same day, the phones might start shipping at a later date.
The internal memo does not make a specific mention of the iPhone X getting a new color option, not even a (PRODUCT)RED variant, so the flagship might not be getting one.
It has been over a year since Apple introduced the (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, so we’re certainly due for a new variant. Will a red option with the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus spur up a new rush of sales? I bought the (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 7 Plus last year, but I ended up not keeping it because I’m not a fan of the white front panels. I’d probably pick up a (PRODUCT)RED iPhone X, though, without a second’s worth of extra thought.
If we do get a red iPhone 7/7 Plus this week, will you, or anyone you know, pick one up?
