With the launch of the iPhone X, Apple introduced studio lighting for its Portrait Mode, allowing photographers to add “studio quality” lighting to their photos.
The feature is available for both the front- and rear-facing cameras on the smartphone, and now Apple is showing off a brand new advertisement to focus on the feature. The new ad is entitled “Studio in your pocket”, and shows a woman hold up her iPhone X and a host of lighting equipment going up behind the phone — just like you’d see in a studio.
The ad itself measures in at over 35 seconds long, so it’s not a particularly long spot. You can watch it down below. Here is Apple’s description used for the video: “Portrait Lighting on iPhone X”. Apple also included the song “La Fête Noire” by Flavien Berger.
Portrait Lighting is a quick way to add the studio lighting to any portrait photo you want to take. The customization can be handled either while you are snapping a photo, or while adding other editing effects to the photo after the fact.
As usual, Apple’s marketing team takes it to the next level to show off a feature for one of the company’s products. Having the studio lights pop up is a nice way to express the iPhone X’s camera capabilities.
