This is it, folks! Apple’s highly anticipated WWDC 2018 Keynote should be underway shortly (10:00 AM Pacific Time or 1:00 PM Eastern Time).

Apple is widely expected to unveil iOS 12, macOS 10.14, watchOS 5 and tvOS 12, and hopefully some big surprises.

Apple will be live streaming WWDC keynote, so you can watch it live on your television via Apple TV, Mac, your iOS device and even on your Windows PC or Android device. Check our post for instructions on how to watch it live

WWDC 2018 – Apple’s biggest developer conference takes place at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose. Apple has been prepping the venue for the event since last week.

iOS 12 will be available on all iOS 11 compatible devices.

Apple has doubled down on performance. Federighi highlights the following performance improvements:

  • Apps launch 40 percent faster
  • Keyboard comes up 50 percent faster
  • Opening camera 70 percent faster on older devices
  • Under heavy load, share sheet and apps launch twice as fast.

iOS 12 includes several new features.

  • The first major feature is AR.
    • Apple has announced a new AR measurement tool called Measure, which allows you to measure 3D objects. It is pretty cool.
    • Apple has introduced a new USDZ format for AR.
    • Apple also unveiled ARKit 2.0 with features like improved face tracking, realistic tracking, 3D object detection, and shared experiences.
  • Photos app is even better in iOS 12.
    • Improved search so you can search for places, events (up to 4 million events)
    • New For You tab
  • Improvements to Siri
    • Shortcuts allows any app to share shortcut to Siri
    • New Shortcuts app allows users to create their own shortcuts using an Editor
  • Apple News gets an update
  • Stocks app has been completely redesigned
    • Apple News is integrated in the Stocks app
    • The Stocks app is now available for iPad
  • iBooks has been renamed Apple Books
  • Apple CarPlay includes support for third-party navigational apps
  • A comprehensive set of built-in features to help you limit distraction
    • Improvements to the DND feature
      • Do not disturb during bedtime
      • Do not disturb while you’re at a location
  • Improvements to Notifications
    • More granular control
    • Grouped notifications
  • iOS 12 includes a new feature called Screen Time
    • It shows you how much you use your phone
    • You get a weekly activity summary
    • App Limits allows you to set time limits for each app
    • If you’ve kids, you can set app “allowances”
  • iOS 12 includes new Animojis and a new Tongue detection feature.
