Before WWDC even began, Apple released iOS 11.4 for all compatible iPhones and iPads. The update was a major audio-focused one as it introduced a number of audio-related enhancements including the release of AirPlay 2. For the HomePod, the update added support for Stereo mode and multi-room audio.
The release of iOS 11.4 was soon followed by WWDC 2018 where Apple announced iOS 12, macOS Mojave and plenty of other software related announcements. And that noise seems to have drowned out complaints from a bunch of iPhone and iPad users who have been complaining about severe battery drain on their devices after the iOS 11.4 update.
While there will always be a small set of users complaining about increased battery drain on their devices after an update, the complaints from users about poor battery life for their iPhones and iPads running iOS 11.4 seems to be higher than usual. The last major update from Apple was the iOS 11.3 release and there were no such complaints following its release. My iPhone 7 Plus has noticed a significant decline in its battery life post the iOS 11.4 update and in some cases, I have seen its battery life drop by as much as 10 percent in just an hour with medium to light use.
