Jailbreakers: Here’s Another Reason to Restore iPhone X, iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus to iOS 11.3.1

Downgrade iOS Firmware

As we had reported yesterday, coolstar, developer of Electra Jailbreak had recommended jailbreakers to restore to iOS 11.3.1 if they had updated to iOS 11.3.1 – iOS 11.2 using the OTA method.

If you have an iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus or iPhone X, then here’s another reason you should consider restoring to iOS 11.3.1 before the signing window closes. coolstar has said that iOS 11.4 SEP (secure enclave processor) might have some incompatibility with iPhone X. As Reddit user goes on to explain, Face ID may not work due to the compatibility issues with iPhone X if you restore to iOS 11.3.1 using futurerestore. Similarly, it has been speculated that Touch ID also may not work on iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus.

So apparently no A11 device does work properly with futurerestore. Trying to restore to 11.3.1 using the 11.4 SEP on iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus ends up succeeding but it breaks the Touch ID. And on the iPhone X the case is pretty similar too, it breaks the Face ID. So for the people with an iPhone 8, an iPhone 8 Plus and the ones with an iPhone X, you’re now in the list of the people who should be UPDATING TO 11.3.1 ASAP! Otherwise using blobs will break your Touch ID or Face ID. We’re not quite sure if there’s any other broken device so it’d be better at this point to just go restore 11.3.1 if you’re jailbroken and update if you’re not.

If you’re on iOS 11.1.2 or lower then you will be able to restore to iOS 11.3.1 using futurerestore but you will face issues with Face ID on iPhone X and Touch ID on iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. So you may want to consider upgrading to iOS 11.3.1 before Apple stops the signing window.

It is widely expected that Apple will stop signing iOS 11.3.1 firmware this week, so don’t miss this opportunity to restore to iOS 11.3.1 so you can jailbreak your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch when the iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak is released.

coolstar will update Electra Jailbreak to support iOS 11.3.1 as soon as Ian Beer releases the iOS 11.3.1 tpf0 exploit.
