Apple today sent out invites for its 2018 iPhone XS launch event on September 12. The event will be held at the Steve Jobs Theater and start at 10:00 a.m. PT.
The invite from Apple carries the tagline “Gather Round” which probably refers to Apple’s main spaceship-like campus at the Apple Park.
The highlight of Apple’s September 12 event is going to the three new iPhones. This includes a 5.8-inch iPhone X, a 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus, and a budget 6.1-inch LCD iPhone. All three iPhones are rumored to sport a design similar to the 2017 iPhone X and include Face ID which will be tweaked for faster unlock times and landscape orientation support.
The 2018 iPhone XS and iPhone X Plus are going to be an ‘S’ upgrade in nature focusing primary on speed improvements and camera upgrades. As for the budget iPhone, it is expected to do well in developing markets and Asian countries. Apple expects the handset to do very well which is why it is allocating almost 50 percent of its production capacity to the handset.
Apart from a trio of new iPhones, Apple will also reveal some new iOS 12 features. Other hardware products expected to be announced by Apple at the event include the Apple Watch Series 4 featuring a bigger edge-to-edge display and its 2018 iPad Pro lineup featuring Face ID, slimmer bezels, and a slightly bigger display on the smaller model.
While Apple is reportedly also working on new budget MacBook and Mac minis, it is unlikely that the company will announce them at the same event.
Can you figure out anything from Apple’s cryptic event invite? If yes, drop a comment and let us know about it. The gold text and theme of the teaser image point to the company perhaps re-launching gold as a color option for its 2018 iPhone lineup.
