Microsoft Planning to Bring Sticky Notes to iOS and Android

Sticky Notes

Microsoft is planning on bringing its popular Sticky Notes Windows app to iOS and Android. The company is currently working on a big revamp of Sticky Notes Windows app which will include new features like a dark theme, a formatting bar, new animations, and improved performance and accessibility.

All the above features will be a part of the upcoming v3.0 update of Sticky Notes. Interestingly, after this update, Microsoft will work on bringing Sticky Notes to Android and iOS. The mobile app will automatically sync notes with the desktop version of the app.

The release timeframe of the app is not yet confirmed, though Microsoft is planning to release it this year itself.

Microsoft already has a note-taking app with cross-platform syncing available on both Android and iOS: OneNote. However, OneNote is a relatively heavy note taking app and users might not prefer it for jotting down those quick notes. Sticky Notes can change that since it is not as heavy as OneNote and its primarily meant for taking quick notes, to-do lists, or drawing.

After the disaster that was Windows Mobile, Microsoft has changed its strategy to focus on mobile apps for both Android and iOS. The company hopes to attract more users to its platform and services by ensuring they work seamlessly across all platforms.
