7-Eleven is Now Rolling Out Apple Pay Support in Over 10,000 Stores in the U.S.

Back in July, Apple confirmed that Apple Pay would be launching not only in Germany soon, but also that in the United States the mobile payment option would be adopted by one of the biggest franchises out there.

At the time, no specific dates were provided. However, the wait, it turns out, is not long. 7-Eleven has officially announced on Monday that it is now rolling out Apple Pay support across its store locations in the U.S., which means that here shortly over 10,000 locations will give customers the option to use the mobile payment option to buy their products. 7-Eleven says that the rollout will take place over the course of the month, and that “most stores” should have it by the time September winds down.

“For many smartphone users, shopping at 7-Eleven stores will just got even faster and more convenient with the touch of their smartphone or smartwatch. 7-Eleven, Inc. – the largest chain in the convenience retailing industry – now accepts Apple Pay, which is transforming mobile payments with an easy, secure and private way to pay, and Google Pay for contactless payments at participating U.S. stores.”

It’s also worth noting that Google Pay, Google’s own alternative to Apple Pay, is also part of this nationwide rollout for 7-Eleven stores.

Also, the franchise is moving forward with a few other additional features for customers, including support for Amazon Cash (at more than 8,000 locations), along with the ability to use a 7-Eleven store as an Amazon Locker for pick-up services (at 1,100 stores).

Here are the additional features and services 7-Eleven is rolling out:

  • 7-Eleven NOW™ – The proprietary smartphone app, currently being rolled out into select U.S. markets, enables on-demand ordering of products from local 7-Eleven stores, and offers Apple Pay as a payment option.
  • 7Rewards® – The popular app-based customer loyalty program allows customers to earn and redeem points upon checkout. The app also provides unique and exciting customer experiences in and out of stores.
  • 7-Eleven Bot on Messenger –7-Eleven fans can engage with the brand from within Facebook by simply chatting the 7-Eleven Bot on Facebook Messenger.

  • Amazon – The in-store package pickup service, Amazon Locker, is in approximately 1,100 7-Eleven stores; and Amazon Cash may be used at more than 8,000 locations.
  • BillPay – The app powered by PayNearMe enables cash users to pay a variety of bills at participating 7‑Eleven stores.

7-Eleven is one of the biggest chains in the U.S., so it’s adoption of Apple Pay is certainly good news for Apple. And, looking ahead, the pharmacy chain CVS, another huge retail partner for Apple, will also be rolling out support at some point in the near future. That comes after CVS launching its own in-store mobile payment option, CVS Pay, a couple of years ago as a competing service to Apple’s own effort.
